Heat pump installation and service in Oradea and Bihor

In the showroom we have a 10 kW Chofu installed and running. It is worth coming by to hear it from a metre away: that is the difference between a decibel figure on a data sheet and what you actually hear in the garden. You can collect the heat pump from the warehouse free of charge once we tell you it is ready, or have it delivered by courier. The courier leaves the goods at the kerb, and unloading and moving them to the installation spot are up to you. When the quote includes installation, transport appears as a separate line in it.

What design temperature applies in Oradea

A heat pump is sized for the coldest day the design takes into account, not for an average winter. Public sources do not agree on Oradea, and it is worth knowing this before you compare quotes.

Our sizing tool starts from −15 °C for Oradea. Our old website said −18 °C, and some maps still put the city in zone III. Three degrees is not dramatic. With 20 °C indoors you calculate for a difference of 35 or 38 degrees, roughly 9% more heat loss through the walls. Ten centimetres of insulation more or less moves the result far more.

The county is not just Oradea and the western plain, though. Towards the Apuseni Mountains, at higher altitude, winters are harsher. For every house the technician checks the zone during sizing, by locality, and calculates with that temperature rather than one value for the whole county. The reference method is SR EN 12831-1 with the Romanian national annex (ASRO, SR EN 12831-1:2017/NA:2022).

Chofu heat pumps run down to −20 °C outside, so there is still a margin at −18 °C. Output drops as the air gets colder, which is why we read the data sheet at −7 °C and not only the power in the model name. Houses in Bihor and the heat pump that suits them

In Bihor we mostly see two situations. One is the older house with classic radiators and a wood or gas boiler. The other is the new, well insulated house with underfloor heating, where the owner does not want a gas connection.

For radiators we almost always choose an R290 heat pump, because it heats the water to 75 °C, about what radiators sized for a boiler expect. Sometimes two or three radiators need replacing, never the whole system up front. We covered this in detail in heat pumps with old radiators. One thing to know if you are buying now: from 1 January 2027, new monobloc heat pumps with R32 can no longer be placed on the EU market under Regulation (EU) 2024/573 (EUR-Lex). Units already installed remain legal and can be repaired. The full comparison is in R290 vs R32.

Vila Veronica is the case we meet most often: a wood boiler, radiators designed for 70 °C water and owners who did not want to rebuild the system. Heat pump installation in Oradea: how it goes

The order is the same for a house in Oradea and one at the other end of the county. Only the drive changes.

What we check on site

Some things do not show up in a form. We look at where the outdoor unit will go and how far it is from the cylinder and the manifold, because pipework is paid by the metre. With R290 we check the protection zone around the unit: it must not contain windows, air vents or drains. We also check the electrical panel, whether your supply is single-phase or three-phase and, with radiators, whether each room has emitters large enough for cooler water.

Installation day

The outdoor unit goes on an anti-vibration stand. Then come the pipes to the cylinder and manifold, the expansion vessel, the electrical connection and the protection devices in the panel. Chofu heat pumps are monobloc, with the refrigerant sealed in the outdoor unit at the factory. Only water enters the house, so the installation does not require F-gas certification. Commissioning

At the end the installer fills, bleeds and balances the system, then sets the heating curve for your house and shows you on the controller what to change and what to leave alone. Commissioning by a qualified person is one of the warranty conditions, so it is not a step to skip. One heat pump was even started in freezing weather, at −12 °C, on a job in Sălaj, without a backup electric heater.

Heat pump installer in Oradea, or your own

You do not have to use one of our partner installers. You can buy just the heat pump and have your own installer fit it. In that case we send them the hydraulic diagram and support them by phone during commissioning, free of charge.

What you need to know: the commercial warranty, 3 years on the unit and 5 years on the compressor, requires commissioning by a qualified person and an annual service. Service after the warranty

Chofu has no subsidiary in Romania. Service is handled by NEDAVI from Oradea, and if you live in Bihor that means a short drive. We also do the annual service. Spare parts reach anywhere in the country within 48 hours, and repairs do not stop when the warranty ends.
