What is inside

Seven components, none of them anonymous.

Monobloc: the refrigerant stays sealed inside the outdoor unit, and only water enters the house.

  • Plate heat exchangerTransfers heat from the refrigerant to the water in the heating system. Stainless steel, copper-brazed.
  • Finned coilDraws heat from the outdoor air. The fins have an anti-corrosion coating for outdoor use.
  • Fan motorVariable-speed DC motor. It slows down at night.
  • Control board, inverterAdjusts the compressor speed continuously instead of switching it on and off.
  • CompressorThe mechanical heart of the pump, made in Japan. 5-year warranty.
  • Circulation pumpMoves water through the heating system. Low consumption, variable speed.
  • CasingGalvanised steel sheet with an electrostatic powder coat, weatherproof.

Official Chofu importer

The only authorised distributor for Eastern Europe, since 2018.

Over 5,000 pumps

Sold across Romania through NEDAVI and its partners: houses, guesthouses and industrial halls.

3- and 5-year warranty

Three years on the unit, five on the compressor, with service in Romania.

Natural refrigerant R290

GWP 0.02 under Regulation (EU) 2024/573, outside the EU restrictions on fluorinated gases.

The R290 range

Natural propane, GWP 0.02.

The R290 models use propane, a natural refrigerant: GWP 0.02, against 2,088 for R410A. They reach a 75 °C flow temperature, so they also work with existing radiators.

What it can do

Eight functions every unit has.

The same functions you will find on the datasheet, explained briefly.

Heating or cooling

The same unit, winter and summer.

Quiet night mode

Reduced speed between the hours you set.

Advanced scheduling

Heating curve and weekly timetable.

Domestic hot water

Cylinder with an oversized coil.

Frost protection system

Starts by itself below the set threshold.

Thermostatic backup heater control

Electric backup only when it is needed.

Automatic defrost

Clears ice from the coil without any intervention.

Cooling mode, air conditioning

Chilled water for summer, through the same system.

How it works

Why it puts out more heat than the electricity it uses.

In short

The pump does not produce heat, it moves it. It takes the heat that is already in the outdoor air, even at minus twenty degrees, and pushes it into the water in your heating system. The electricity is not turned into heat: it drives the compressor that does the moving. That is why one kilowatt you pay for brings more than one kilowatt of heat into the house, something a boiler, which burns fuel to make heat, can never do.

On the datasheet

The ratio is called COP: the heat delivered divided by the electrical energy consumed, measured under declared conditions. A7/W35 means 7 °C outdoor air and a 35 °C flow temperature. SCOP is the seasonal average. Both rise as the flow temperature falls, which is why underfloor heating beats radiators, and why correct sizing matters more than the model you choose.

What a COP of 4.95 looks like, to scale
Electricity paid for 1 kW
Heat delivered 4.95 kW

10 kW Premium R290 model, at 7 °C outdoors and a 35 °C flow temperature. At minus 7 °C outdoors, the same unit delivers 10.0 kW.

Why a heat pump

One kilowatt paid for, four kilowatts of heat.

A gas boiler turns one kilowatt of gas into one kilowatt of heat at most. A heat pump does not produce heat, it moves it from the outdoor air into the house. For every kilowatt of electricity it uses, it delivers between three and five kilowatts of heat.

How we work

From first question to a warm home, in four steps.

  1. 1 free

    Sizing

You tell us the floor area, the insulation and your current system. We tell you how many kW you need.

  2. 2 within one working day

    Quote

You get an itemised quote with the pump, the cylinder, installation and delivery as separate lines.

  3. 3 card or pro forma

    Order

You accept the quote and pay online by card, or by bank transfer against a pro forma invoice.

  4. 4 one working day

    Installation

We deliver. A certified Chofu partner installer from your county, whichever you choose, fits and commissions the pump.

Government funding

Casa Verde does not fund heat pumps right now.

No programme for heat pumps is open on afm.ro: Casa Eficientă Energetic has been suspended since 15 December 2021, and Casa Verde Fotovoltaice funds solar panels, not heat pumps. If a funding round opens, we prepare the technical part of the application for you, free of charge.

  • The CE declaration of conformity
  • The heat demand calculation for your home
  • The firm, itemised quote

Programme status checked on 17 September 2026. The amounts and the timetable are set for each round, in the guide AFM publishes.

Questions

What people ask us most often.

If you cannot find the answer here, write to us or call. A person answers, not a bot.

Will it work with my existing radiators?
In most cases, yes. The R290 models heat the water up to 75 °C, a temperature at which conventional radiators work normally. During sizing we check whether the radiator surface is large enough.
What happens at minus 20 degrees?
Chofu pumps are guaranteed down to minus 20 °C. The output drops below the rated output, which is why sizing is done for the design outdoor temperature of your county, not for an average value.
How much does installation cost?
It depends on the distance between the outdoor unit and the inside of the house, the type of cylinder and the existing system. It appears as a separate line in the quote, never hidden in the price of the pump.
Can I buy just the pump, without installation?
Yes. You can order online and collect from the warehouse in Oradea or have it delivered by courier. Installation is up to you.
Can I get it through Casa Verde?
Not at the moment. No state programme funds heat pumps today: Casa Eficientă Energetic has been suspended since 15 December 2021, and Casa Verde Fotovoltaice is for solar panels. If AFM opens a funding round, we prepare the technical documents free of charge. The status of each programme is on the Casa Verde page.
