The problem
The old system failed in January. The house had no heating and the job could not wait until spring.
The challenge
Installing in freezing weather raises two problems: the system has to be filled and bled without any risk of freezing, and the pump starts straight away in the toughest conditions, with no gentle running-in period.
The solution
8 kW R290, commissioned at −12 °C. It took the load without an electric backup heater. The units are guaranteed down to −20 °C, so the start-up had a margin.
