The problem
A new build with no heating system chosen yet. The owners did not want a gas connection and were looking for the lowest long-term running cost.
The challenge
A well-insulated house has a low heat demand. Oversizing would have meant frequent cycling and money spent on output that is never used, so the sizing had to be tight.
The solution
6 kW, with underfloor heating throughout. Underfloor heating runs at a low temperature, where the pump is most efficient, and the output covers exactly the calculated demand.
