The problem
The wood-fired boiler had to be loaded by hand every day and left the house cold in the morning. The owners wanted to stop handling firewood without redoing the heating system inside.
The challenge
The house had conventional radiators, sized for water at 70 °C. Most heat pumps do not reach that high, and replacing every radiator would have doubled the cost of the job.
The solution
A 10 kW R290 unit, which heats water to 75 °C. The radiators stayed where they were. Only the connection was changed and a buffer tank was fitted.
